Development Milestones

The Development Foundation’s first project was the refurbishment of the College Chapel and the development of the Old Boys Lounge beneath it. They were both completed in 1994.

This was closely followed by the refurbishment of the gymnasium into a new two-level Arts, Music and IT centre, and the construction of a new fully equipped gymnasium and weight room, named the Marist Brothers’ Sports Centre, adjacent to the sports fields.

Then followed the renovation and astro turfing of the tennis courts, construction of a 240-seat dual-purpose lecture theatre and auditorium, and the Aquatic Centre. The Aquatic Centre contains a 20m deep water pool and a smaller pool for swimming lessons and other aquatic activities. The outdoor pool has also been refurbished and is now heated.

In a major building programme costing more than $7 million and culminating for the Centenary year (2003), the College constructed:

* A modern administration building fronted with the magnificent Centenary Square, which creates a welcoming entrance to the College.
* A new technology facility that enables the materials, food technology and design aspects of the curriculum to be taught in state-of-the-art surroundings, along with new art, photography and graphics rooms.
* Nine new classrooms for Year 7 and 8 students, a facility named after Bishop Pompallier.

Further work on an extension to the Pompallier Block was completed in February 2010.
