Football

Football has gone from strength to strength over the past few years. Our 1st XI is now represented in the Premier League (top eight teams in Auckland) and finished a very impressive fifth place in the Auckland competition in 2009, as well as upsetting many teams with a fourth place finish at national tournament.

Through the Sports Institute we are working hard on developing player potential from a young age and this has been seen in the success of our competitive 14A side.

In 2009 we fielded nine teams and this year we have added an additional 14th grade Year 10 team to the fold.

Football would not be what it is without the ongoing support of many teachers and parents as well as the new faces that continue to crop up and are prepared to get involved. We have been privileged to have the assistance of the following parents, teachers, coaches and managers over the past two seasons:

Danny Hay (All Whites 1996-2007)
Paul Smit
Ian Doyle
Noel Barkley (All Whites 1986-1991)
Neil Penfold (Director of Sport)
Peter Hale
John Campbell
Alan Terris
Terry Broderick
Raj Dullabh
Shoruban Pasupati
Paul Keestra
Trevor Gaffney
Patrick Dodd
Michael Murphy
Bernie Liddington

Looking to the future there are many avenues being explored to continue to build on the success of the past few seasons. Either way the Sacred Heart name has now been firmly entrenched Auckland-wide as a proud and respected school of high-quality football and this is only the beginning.

2010 is bound to be yet another exciting year for football in the College.  If you would like further information, please email:
