Enrolment
Sacred Heart College has a long and proud tradition of achievement dating back to 1903. Our mission is to develop outstanding mature young men by providing an education that balances spiritual development with academic, social and physical achievement. Our vision is for each student to be grounded in the Catholic faith and to leave confident and prepared to be active in a changing and complex world.
Students at Sacred Heart experience a learning environment where their talents are celebrated and their needs supported, so that each student can achieve their own personal academic excellence.
To uphold our Catholic, Marist and Champagnat values and in line with our Enrolment Scheme, preference is given to families with an established connection to the Catholic Church, and in accordance with the guidelines approved by the Catholic Bishops of New Zealand in 2003. We urge you to read and understand our Enrolment Scheme which can be found below.
Please note, our main intake is at Year 7 and Year 9, with limited spaces in all other Year Levels.

Enrolment timeline - approximate timeframes
The enrolment process is conducted annually, with the following time frame:
- Tuesday, 7 February – Online applications open for Year 7 & Year 9 Day boys and Year 9 Boarders
- Wednesday, 8 March – Open Day. Morning session at 10am, afternoon session at 1pm
- Friday, 31 March 2023 – Applications close for Year 7 and 9 Day Boys, 2024
- Interviews for Year 7 - 16 & 17 May, 2023
- Interviews for Year 9 - 23 & 24 May, 2023
- July – Families of Year 7 and 9 Day Boys will be advised of their application outcomes
- Beginning of Term 3 – Enrolment for other Year Levels (8, 10-13) for 2024 will open. Please note, there are very limited places available across these Year Levels
- Applications for all Year Levels (Day boys and Boarders) will close at 4pm on Thursday 31 August 2023.
International Student Enrolment

Applications for Year 7 and Year 9, 2025 will open in Term 1, 2024. Applications for all other Year Levels may open in Term 3, 2024. All applications are subject to the availability of placements for 2025.
When preparing for an online Application, there are several supporting documents required in order to complete an enrolment application. These documents include:
- Preference of Enrolment Certificate (signed by your Parish Priest)
- Supplementary Application Information
- Attendance Dues Agreement
- Application for Boarding (if applicable)
You will also be required to submit (as PDF) a copy of the following:
- Copy of Baptismal Certificate and First Communion Certificate (if applicable)
- Copy of Birth Certificate (preferable) or Passport (current)
- Copy of New Zealand Residency or Work Permit (if applicable)
- Copy of the most recent full school report
- Educational Psychology Report, or similar (if applicable)
- Immunisation Certificate from your GP (Plunket book not accepted)
Applications for Year 7 and Year 9 enrolment in 2025 will open in February 2024. If you are interested in enrolment for 2025 and would like to be kept in touch regarding key dates, please complete the form below.
At Sacred Heart College we have limited scholarships available each year, largely for those who would otherwise not be able to attend the College, and applying for Year 7 or Year 9. All Scholarship Applications must be accompanied by an Online Enrolment Application, Student Personal Statement, Family Financial Position and have a Confidential Report provided by the student's current school.
